The charming country resort Fortezza de' Cortesi is located in one of the most spectacular areas of Tuscany, among the beautiful cities of Florence, Siena and Volterra. Daily excursions to the areas of great historical and artistic interest and to the beautiful Tuscan coast are easily organizable by either car or public means. Peretola in Florence is the nearest airport at 45 km from here. The nearest town is San Gimignano, only 5 km far.
Driving Direction
Coming from FLORENCE or SIENA
From the Firenze-Siena(FI-SI) freeway, drive off at "Poggibonsi Nord" exit and immediately take the direction to San Gimignano. After 8 km ca., you will find, on your left side, the fork to Colle di Val d'Elsa. As reference points to better recognize this cross, you will see on your left, a pub. Here you pass the fork and continue to the main road for further 30 mt., then turn left into the rough road, sign-posted "Monti" and "Fortezza de' Cortesi". Take the rough road and continue for 1.5 km following the signs to "Fortezza de' Cortesi" as far as the parking lot of the property.
Coming from PISA
From Pisa airport take freeway signposted “FI-PI-LI”, follow the directions to “Firenze”, then exit at “Empoli Ovest” then follow the signs to Siena. Once you reach Certaldo, follow the signs to Poggibonsi-Siena (not for S. Gimignano). Shortly before Poggibonsi on the right side of the road you see the "PAM" supermarket. Here follow the sign to S. Gimignano, by turning right. After about 5 km, you will find, on your left side, the fork to Colle di Val d'Elsa. As reference points to better recognize this cross, you will see on your left, a pub. Here you pass the fork and continue to the main road for further 30 mt., then turn left into the rough road, sign-posted "Monti" and "Fortezza de' Cortesi". Take the rough road and continue for 1.5 km following the signs to "Fortezza de' Cortesi" as far as the parking lot of the property.
Coming from SAN GIMIGNANO
From San Gimignano follow the signs to Poggibonsi-Siena. After about 3 km, on the left side of the road you can see a pub. Immediately before it, always on the right side you find a roughr road signeposted for "Monti" and "Fortezza de' Cortesi". Take the gravel road and continue following the signs for "Fortezza de' Cortesi" (there are others 4). After 1.5 km ca., you arrive in the parking lot of the property.
